RE: Any good spots along Colorado River in AZ

Probably most of the land along the river is long-since spoken for. I don't know of much, except a couple of state parks here and there. Names escape me at the moment.

RE: Dogs Love Snow!

Our newest granddog, a young boxer, was terrified the first time she saw snow falling. Our daughter said she was dashing around trying to avoid the big ole scary flakes falling. Wanted nothing to do with the whole business. She's come around a bit, Amanda says, but it's not her favorite thing. Our Ginger LOVES the snow. She was overjoyed when we were snowed-in before we left Montana this year. (I was not quite so happy.)

RE: shared ownership

I'd have to REALLY love someone before I'd want their heinies on my toilet or in my bed!

RE: Cash for gold??????

"They even send you a gold kit!". I would feel very strange about sending gold through the mail identified as such. I can't imagine having "unwanted" gold! It's GOLD, for cryin' out loud! And if you don't know what it's worth, how would you know if you were cheated? Suppose you mailed your gold and they insist they never got it? You have little recourse. Not something I would ever consider doing...

RE: A revoultion in air travel comfort.....

I used to love to fly, but these days it looks like loading cattle. No thanks; I'll walk or drive. Flying might be safer than driving, but at least I'll already be on the ground when I die; not screeching hysterically (and worse, listening to other folks screech) for a 30 or 40,000 foot drop. Give me the old prop planes any day! (Yep! I'm a geezer!)

RE: Propane tank for portable bar-b-que

We do it (probably most folks do), but we're very careful to make sure the tank is secure: not able to tip over and nothing in the bay that could either puncture it or fall onto it. I can't say I'm 100% comfortable about it, but what else can you do? As my Southern Granny said, "If a tree don't fall on ya, you'll live til ya die.".

RE: Camping in Quartzsite

We are passing through Q next week and hopefully able to pull off and spend the night. We will be headed east on 10. Would Dome Rock be the best choice? Which exit? It may be dark when we arrive and will be with toad. Thanks Chuck I don't think I'd like to try Dome Rock in the dark. Scaddan Wash may be a better bet. Best bet might be to go north on AZ 95 about five miles and go into Hi Jolly. It's flat and there are fewer washes to surprise you.

RE: What's with the Stanley Steamer commercial???

Fire trucks, ambulances or police cars: the very second Ginger hears a siren, she starts howling and if it keeps going, she starts barking and howling. Sometimes we change to another show...she really gets wound up. She does the same if she hears a siren while we're in the car or motorhome.

RE: Camping in Quartzsite

If you are riding bikes, Dome Rock to the west or Scaddan Wash to the east would be the closest free boondocking. However, on the north side of the freeway there is $5.00 boondocking on the corner of Bus. 10 and AZ 95. At least here has been for several years. (I'm not there yet, but will be in a couple/three days.)

RE: Fayetteville NC

No boondocking in Fayetteville that I know of. We were there a few years ago and we didn't find anything suitable. Anyway, it'll be kind of chilly there in December. (But then, you're from Ohio; Fayetteville, North Carolina can't touch Ohio for "chilly"!)

RE: AZ 89 Between Congress and Prescott

Thanks ,Folks...I reckon we'll be touring Skull Valley. Sounds interesting anyhow. Any ideas why it's called "Skull Valley"? We had been on that road many years ago for work and it was pretty hairy back then. We just wondered if they had done anything to it in recent years. Apparently not.

1MTNEST: is that "Horribles" or 'Terribles"? Just wondering. (Tongue-in-cheek maybe?)

RE: What item can't you seem to get right?

Biscuits from scratch! The last ones I made were so bad even the birds wouldn't eat them. Don't do too great with pies crust either.

Looking for a Link

I think it was here: there was a link to a video that showed an airliner landing on a freeway. It rammed a car, dropped on the car roof and pushed it along. The car almost hit an old lady driving along slowly. I can't find it or even remember the name of the thread. Can anyone help?

RE: I witnessed a sad and ugly thing today

That is absolutely disgusting! We can only hope what goes around comes around for that witch. DH and I came very close to blows with a guy in Quartzsite last year. He was beating his poor dog; slamming his head against the car, etc. I ran over and started yelling at him. He got in my face and DH got into his. If he had made one move to hit either of us, it would've been ON! At least he quit beating his dog, that time anyhow.

RE: Eye floaters

Mine only bug me when I'm trying to look at something in a clear field like blue sky. I don't notice them on a page of type or a computer screen.
